Dear Parents,
We have Saturday school this Saturday, November 16. We have our usual arrival and start times, but dismissal will be at 12:45. Please send in a snack. We will not have lunch, recess, or specials. We will have a frog fact scavenger hunt, an informational text features scavenger hunt, and a word problem scavenger hunt. We will also read an informational text about frogs and toads and refer back to the text to answer questions in complete sentences.
Next week in ELA, we will read informational texts about frogs and answer questions by referring back to the text to find evidence. We will learn about informational text structures; they way an author organizes their non-fiction texts. We will identify: description, sequence, compare/contrast, problem/solution, and cause and effect. Then we will begin creating our own reptile magazine using both text features and text structures.
In math, we will explore the Distributive and Associative Properties of Multiplication. We will solve word problems with multiples of 9, 0, and 1. We will also complete a 2 day performance task with our AIG Teacher and Math Specialist.
In Science, we will explore muscles.
In social studies, we will explore map skills.
